Ortho K
Unsure about laser surgery I was very interested when Yates and Suddell told me about OrthoK.
The assessment, fitting and backup were excellent. Within a couple of days I was inserting and removing the lenses and had no problem sleeping in them. My distance vision was excellent. The feeling of freedom from lenses or glasses is exciting and liberating.
Under Nick’s expert guidance I leave the lenses out every 4th night and this maintains the level of correction to also allow me to read most small print without constantly resorting to reading glasses. Perfect for everyday things such as inserting PIN numbers, reading ingredients and prices in a supermarket, checking a recipe in the kitchen. I do still prefer to use reading glasses for comfort when reading a book.
I can walk in a warm room on a cold day without misting up. I can doze on a Sunday afternoon or watch a weepy film without ending up with a blur. On holiday this year I look forward to being able to swim and to wear normal sunglasses.

I am writing to express sincere thanks to one of your staff, Nick Howard, whose service and patience has been exceptional concerning the fitting of my Ortho K lenses. I have been a patient of Yates & Suddell for many years and worn contact lenses since I was a teenager. Over the last few years I have had various problems with my lenses due to my prescription changing to include a reading capacity, and Nick has taken considerable time and trouble to find a suitable lens for me. However more recently I became aware of the new Ortho K lens and enquired whether it would be appropriate for me to try as my contact lenses were becoming increasingly uncomfortable to wear due to my eyes becoming dry. Nick informed me that I was not considered to be a classic text book case, but after contacting his colleague at the laboratory and a great deal of discussion decided that I could have a trial, although they were not entirely sure it would be successful. When the lenses arrived I was duly given the appropriate instruction appointment and had the follow up appointment the next morning. When the lenses were removed and I could read quite clearly from the test sheet I was absolutely delighted to say the least, even managing to read past the point that Nick had predicted I would reach. Since then he has continued to adjust the lenses accordingly in order to improve the situation further.
I cannot express how delighted I am with the outcome of all Nick's hard work, and in particular, that he was prepared to take on a challenging case that has proved to be a complete success as far as I am concerned. I hope that by having had a successful outcome with myself that other patients will have the opportunity of a similar trial, and hopefully the same successful outcome. It has certainly changed my lifestyle and I have nothing but praise for Nick in his enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to his job throughout the time I have been treated by him.
