Looking after your eyesight is our top priority and at Yates & Suddell we strongly recommend your eyes are tested regularly as part of your normal health check.
Eye examinations are vital to ensure clear vision but also help detect and monitor common health conditions and eye problems such as glaucoma, diabetes and macula degeneration.
Our practices use the very latest technology to help identify defects BEFORE they become a problem.
Digital Retinal Screening
Introducing the Digital Retinal Camera
We have recently installed a state-of-the-art Digital Retinal Camera in all three of our practices. This is one of the most up to date eye examination devices available and allows us to take a full colour digital photo of the back of the eye.
Having your eyes examined with the Digital Retinal Camera helps us to detect abnormalities sooner and the image is stored on a computer, which means we can easily check for changes from one visit to the next.

NHS Entitlements
NHS Qualifying Customers
Yates & Suddell also care for NHS customers, providing a free eye test and NHS voucher for qualifying patients.
Qualifying people include:
- All over 60s
- Children under 16 (or under 19 and in full time education)
- Benefit claimants (income support, income based jobseekers allowance or in receipt of Working Families Tax Credit or Disabled Persons Tax Credit)
- Diabetics
- A Glaucoma sufferer as advised by a hospital ophthalmologist (ocular hypertensive)
- Aged 40 years or over and a close relative of someone with glaucoma
- Registered Blind or partially sighted
- On a low income (NHS low income scheme)
- Eligible for NHS complex lens vouchers
